The School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts is one of twenty-one training institutions under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi. It was established on the foundation of the School of Graduate Studies (2002) and the School of Interdisciplinary Studies (2017), the predecessor organizations assigned by the Vietnam National University, Hanoi to carry out important breakthrough missions in many historical periods. From playing a pivotal role in promoting the postgraduate education system, the School has gradually become one of the first institutions assigned the function and task of organizing and implementing interdisciplinary and inter-disciplinary training programs. With many years of experience in the field of education and training management with the motto "Interdisciplinary accompanies businesses". The School's primary mission is to become a key, pioneering, prestigious and highly integrated institution in interdisciplinary science and arts training. Apart from that, promoting the implementation of scientific activities that are innovative, interdisciplinary, art-related, in order to meet the demand of society and expand the influence of VNU with the slogan “Creating the future with interdisciplinary knowledge”.

TRAINING

The School’s mission is to be the focal institution for developing and organizing the implementation of new, interdisciplinary training programs, aiming at programs with high scientific and practical application, meeting social needs.

The school currently enrolls 07 undergraduate programs including:

           Bachelor of Brand Management;

           Bachelor of Heritage Resource Management;

           Bachelor of Leisure and Event Management;

           Bachelor of Smart and Sustainable Urban Management;

           Bachelor of Creative Design (3 Majors: Fashion and Creativity; Digital graphics; Sustainable Interior Design);

           Architect Architecture and Landscape Design;

           Bachelor of Visual Arts (2 Majors: Art photography; Contemporary Figure Design)

Postgraduate programs include:

           Master of Climate Change;

           Master of Sustainable Sciences;

           Master of Heritage Studies;

           Master of Urban Development Management;

           Master of Cultural Industry and Creativity;

           PhD Climate Change and Sustainable Development;

           PhD in Heritage Studies.

As of September 2024, the School has more than 2,500 full-time undergraduate students studying at 04 campuses: Hoa Lac, Xuan Thuy, My Dinh and Nghia Do; more than 200 graduate and doctoral students, currently working at enterprises, agencies, departments and branches, actively contributing to the development of the unit in particular and the country in general. The School is continuing to expand the scope and scale of training programs, while searching for and developing new training programs to meet the increasing needs of society and the development trend of interdisciplinary science.

In addition, the School also builds and implements international joint training programs to build its training position, gradually integrating globally. In the 2023-2024 school year, the School has been very successful in organizing and maintaining Vietnamese language training programs for international students both online and in person, welcoming more than 100 international students, and receiving positive feedback from partner schools. In addition, short-term training courses in localities have also contributed to certain successes including training and fostering high-quality human resources that are capable of applying interdisciplinary thinking and approaches to real life.

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES

The School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts is gradually striving to become a strong institution in organizing and implementing quality scientific research, focusing on interdisciplinary issues and creating an environment to attract scientists inside and outside VNU in different fields and specialties. The School has established key research groups, contributing to the rapid increase in the School's publications in recent years.

DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION

The School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts always strives to seek cooperation opportunities, implement scientific activities, and services in interdisciplinary fields. The School develops in the direction of research and application, creating an environment for those interested in using tools and interdisciplinary approaches in identifying and solving practical problems of life.

The School is gradually participating and contributing to building an international network to serve the further development of cooperation in many fields such as Heritage Studies, Urban Development Management, Brand Management, Leisure and Event Management, Climate Change and Sustainable Development, Creative Arts. The School has been making efforts to become a member of international organizations on Heritage training or in-depth research and consulting in the fields of Smart Cities, Arts, Entertainment and Sustainable Development.
