11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis

Assessment of changes in certain natural environmental components, such as air (TSP), surface water quality, and land use related to mineral exploitation activities in Lao Cai province, along with an evaluation of the role of each factor affecting these changes.

Application of the Aermod model to forecast air quality (for TSP) and the ARIMA model to forecast surface water quality using the WQI index in major rivers and streams until 2030.

Based on the SWOT analysis of mineral exploitation activities in Lao Cai province, the thesis proposes several comprehensive measures and three specific technical solutions to minimize environmental impacts from these activities and improve environmental management efficiency.

12. Paratical applicability, if any:

The thesis's research results provide management agencies and businesses with practical data to implement measures for controlling and protecting the environment in mining areas, serving as a foundation for future mining planning

13. Further research directions, if any

Conduct research to develop a comprehensive Environmental Quality Index (EQI) for areas affected by mineral exploitation activities.

Develop technical guidelines for comprehensive environmental assessments or inter-mine environmental assessments in areas with multiple mining projects operating simultaneously, or in mining areas within industrial clusters (mining, mineral processing, metallurgy).

- The thesis chooses to assess environmental changes related to mineral exploitation activities, focusing on copper and apatite mining. Other mineral exploitation activities in the province need to be studied to be able to comprehensively assess environmental changes related to mineral activities in Lao Cai province.
